Maharshi Dayanand University is a state university, established in the year 1975 in Rohtak, Haryana. It is a top-affiliating college accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC and ranked 35th by NIRF in the state public university category 2024. MDU-CDOE was started in 1988 as a correspondence cell, later upgraded to the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE). In 2022, it was renamed as a center for distance and online education. Now, CDOE at MDU offers 13 undergraduate and postgraduate programs and 1 certificate program in ODL mode. Through online mode, it offers 8 undergraduate/postgraduate and 2 certificate programs.

Admissions for UG courses are open in MDU distance education for the academic session 2025. Students can apply for the desired Undergraduate programs before the official deadline. The university offers UG courses like Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM), in online and open & distance learning modes. MDU distance education has opened its admission window for the academic year 2025. Students can start applying to their respective postgraduate degree programs. Presently, students can avail a master of Arts in history, Hindi, political science, Sanskrit, economics, English, public administration, and journalism & Mass Communication, including master of Commerce (M.COM), master of Science in mathematics, master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) in ODL and online mode. The minimum duration of all the postgraduate programs is 2 years with 4 semesters.
To be eligible for PG admission, students need to have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 45%-50% mark from a UGC recognized university or any other university recognized by MD University or equivalent. There is no age limit; admission will be merit-based. The average PG course fee is around INR 11,100 to INR 27,120.
